Our beloved felines can pick the most purfect time to be full of
energy, usually it's when we are trying to catch a bit of sleep
before we even want to start contemplating about getting up to go
to work in the morning! Well, if you don't want to join, there are
ways to help kitty expunge all of that energy without leaving the
comforts of your bed!
Maybe
the last resort, but it could be someone's taste! Why not get a
puppy? A Terrier could be perfect! Practically babysitting each
other, they can chase each other round, just make sure you have
cat proofed and dog proofed everything in sight, and invest in a
good set of ear plugs!
If
that's not an option, then get creative! Leave some of kitty's safe
toys around. Make sure any toys that are pointy, small or anything
you feel is a bit dangerous, kept in a cat proof cupboard. Small
soft toys that are catnip drenched can get kitty pretty worn out
super fast! Cats love it when there is a human element is involved,
which you can usually satisfy this need before you go to bed, and
can comfortably leave kitty worn out for most of the night without
too much annoyance.
Bring
back the toys from kittenhood! Make a newspaper bow and tie string
to it and then tie it to the back of a chair. Kitty will go nutts!
A rug with a kink in it big enough for kitty to fit in will be entertainment
for hours! You certainly don't need to have a money tree to keep
kitty happy.
Spread
some newspaper out on the floor. I'm not sure what draws cats to
this but I know Binx loves it. If you leave any sort of paper out,
he'll be sitting or sleeping on it. Scuffle it around and he'll
be diving on it and ripping into it.
If
your awake, plastic and paper grocery bags are a great toy - but
this is a supervised game! Rufus would enjoy me throwing a bag up
in the air, only to let it float down and from seemingly out of
nowhere Rufus would pounce with full force onto it! Honestly - it's
amusement for hours!
If
your cat enjoys watching TV, flick it onto the nature chanel. I've
even seen that you can buy certain DVD's for kitty to watch. Noise
or not, this will surely keep kitty quite during the wee hours of
the morning.
Pampered
kitty's like Binx also enjoy playing with tennis balls. Bounce them
around and he will chase it for hours. Usually, he will catch it
and then roll around on the ground with them before trying to kick
the living daylights out of it!
Even
the older cats need exercise. Just like us humans, if you find fun,
creative ways to amuse them, they won’t even notice that they
are even exercising! You don’t have to be rich to provide
your pampered cat with the things that will make them happy. And
all ailurophiles know, by caring for them and pampering them, you
will be richly awarded by their love and affection.
